[dropcap custom_class=”whbr”]As I sat talking to a colleague, in her 30’s and worried about finding love, I forgotten how big a thing it is for women – in fact for me.[/dropcap]

I spent a lot of my youth wanting to be ‘in love’ and took the wrong turn at most corners but all learning experiences it’s said, but at the time it just felt like a hit from behind – you didn’t see it coming and it hurts like hell.

So firstly, do you see it coming?

I have been married twice and engaged three times. My first marriage and the father to my 23 year old son, lasted for 11 years and held the happiest times and the most difficult. I was 28 when I was married and gave birth to my son, so alot changed – fast.

After finally having the strength to leave, I started on my next adventure and fell in love with someone 7 years my junior – a kind of action man, that was my marriage rebound you could say, but he was into me and I rellished being loved, it had been a long time. I reflect often that we love people because they love us, but when you do look at life like a big reflection of self, then it is kind of discovering self love at the same time – go with it I say!

In any case, after a short engagement and a move to Scotland Island (the things we do for love), I moved to Manly, got fit and healthy in body and mind.

[blockquote custom_class=”” txt_color=”#222222″ size=”25″ line_height=”32″]My wonderful Feng Shui expert and friend, set my fengshui up perfectly in my new flat to meet ‘my soul mate’. The funny thing is about this time is that I was in love already, I was in love with me.[/blockquote]

I could feel the energy brewing of meeting him and only a few months later I met my soul mate. I was 42 and married at 45 (my dream wedding – I’ve put a short clip from it below).

It was swift and fast and let me tell you, you have no idea where you are going to meet them, whether you are online or at a bus station, if it’s going to happen it will.

At 52, ten years later, I find myself just as in love with my hubby, so I’m blessed. We have our arguments, how to stack the dishwasher, who left the butter out and the fact that we don’t listen to eachother. Yes we are mirrors and the most difficult thing is owning our shit when we sooooo want to blame the other – frustrating isn’t it!

Where was I, yes, so in all that, I find myself still on my journey (never ends) but loving my own time, loving my time with Maurizio, we don’t have alot in common, but we are able to do NOTHING together so beautifully. I love that.

We did have a moment a few years ago through a great deal of stress where we both wanted to walk out (not really) but it felt like it. I remember sobbing and thinking when things AREN’T good in relationships, EVERYTHING suffers.

My husband is my greatest teacher and like any teacher, they will come into your life at the perfect time. Lonliness is fear and anger and not believing you are enough.

So finding love over 45? Absolutely a great time to find love I believe, we are more accepting of ourselves and know more what we want – so that will reflect back to us.

Remember, everything happens in perfect timing, letting go is paramount and importantly fall in love with you.

You’ll get back what you think about yourself, that’s why self love is number one in my world. So never give up and stay clear about you want – I’ve had many a vision board and believe me, Maurizio was on that board – it matters.
